Protect & Grow Your Hair The Right Way

Going OTT with heat styling can leave your hair feeling dry, brittle and in need of some serious hydration. Want bangn waves but not the damage that comes with it? Then girl sit down, pour yourself a vino and let us rescue your hair from those dangerous, but addictive styling tools.

Set the Right Temperature
Everyone’s hair is different, we all know that, but what you may not realise is that your heat styling temperature needs to be based on your hair type. Thinner, finer hair is more susceptible to damage and so, a temperature below 200 degrees is best when whipping out your curling iron. However, if you’ve been blessed with thicker strands, you can keep your tools between 200 and 300 degrees as your hair can withstand a high temperature –  ugh, so jealous!

Avoid Towel-Drying Your Hair
As an extra precaution (because let’s face it, you can never be too careful when it comes to your strands), try to reduce the amount of stress on your hair. One thing that can increase hair damage is excessive towel-drying. Instead of tugging your strands with a towel, simply wrap it up and leave it be. An even better option is to avoid the traditional towel and opt for a microfibre towel. Plus, it’s gentle and dries your hair up to 50% faster than traditional towels. The result? Hands-free drying without the friction or damage caused by a regular towel.

Use A Heat Protectant
This may sound like a no-brainer, but a Heat Protectant should be sharing shelf space with your other products. Not only will it protect your hair from your straightener, but it will also help repair any strands that have already been damaged by your heat stylers. When purchasing a Heat Protectant Spray, opt for one that’s lightweight and able to withstand intense heat. This way, your locks will be protected no matter how hot your styling tools need to be for you to reach your #hairgoals.

Follow Up With A Hair Mask
After heat styling, your hair can be left extremely dry and brittle. Especially if you’re hitting the heat styling tools every day. To quench those thirsty strands, use a hydrating hair mask at least once a week. If you take care of your strands, they’ll always look on point and so, giving it some love after excessive heat styling will not only make sure your hair remains thick and healthy, it will also help to tame frizz and better prepare your strands for another round of heat styling (because we love to curl, don’t we girls?!).

Psst! Love using your hair straighter a bit too much? Check out our Rapid Repair range, which includes a pretty great Heat Protectant Spray (if we do say so ourselves!) over here.
