Tommy recommends starting your “hair rehab” at least six months before your wedding date. “This entails very limited heat styling, lots of deep treatments like oils and masks, moisturizing and strengthening shampoo/conditioners to get your hair back in shape, and avoiding drastic lightening color treatments,” he shares.

Plan Ahead for Hair Treatments: If you are considering any hair treatments, like natural coloring, or subtle highlights, plan them well in advance. This allows your hair to adjust and ensures that any unexpected issues can be addressed before your big day. Remember to book a trial run with your hairstylist to ensure you love the result!

Hydrated hair is more manageable, less prone to frizz, and has a healthy shine. Consider incorporating a hydrating hair mask into your routine once or twice a week to give your locks an extra boost.

Embrace Beach Vibes: “The beach is all about natural beauty, and your bridal hair should reflect that too. Opt for loose waves, or braids - simple styles for your natural hair texture,” Tommy shares. These hairstyles not only look stunning, but also help to keep you cool. Plus, they give off that relaxed and carefree vibe, perfect for a laid-back, beach inspired wedding.

“You always want to look like yourself - but the best version of yourself. This is not the time to do a big up-do, or a sleek ponytail if you always wear your hair down,” says Tommy. “Keep your hair simple, clean, shiny, and polished, while staying true to you.” 

Fight the Frizz: The last thing you need at your wedding is frizzy hair from all the dancing and picture-taking. To combat this, use products that help control frizz and provide heat protection. Apply a heat protectant before using any hot styling tools and consider using a humidity-resistant hairspray to lock your style in place.

Don't Forget the Accessories: Beachy weddings offer a great opportunity to incorporate fun and vibrant hair accessories. “Consider embellishing your hair with fresh flowers – it's a great way to add a touch of effortless elegance,” adds Tommy.
